 Old Route 57 (CR 91) Reconstruction Minimize

CR57 WR.jpgB&L provided design and construction administration and inspection services on this $3 M highway reconstruction project.  This project included over 25K MT of asphalt reconstruction, the addition of several turning lanes, replacement of over 10 traffic signals, and the implementation of an intelligent traffic signal communication system.  The inspection team consisted of an Engineer-in-Charge as well as an office engineer and two inspectors for the duration of the project.  The NYSDOT’s CEE’s engineer estimate worksheet to tract quantities and prepare monthly estimates.  The on-site inspection staff was responsible for monitoring construction activities and documenting their observations in a formal project record.  The project record content and preparation was completed in accordance to the NYSDOT Manual of Uniform Record Keeping (MURK).

 East Bayard Street (CR 116) Extension Minimize

 I-87 Rehabilitation of the Tappan Zee Bridge Minimize

384.016-Tappan Zee WR.jpgThis project consisted of the substructure repairs for the I87 Tappan Zee Bridge over the Hudson River in Westchester and Rockland Counties.  Repair work consisted of predominantly concrete repairs to the 152 substructure units on the bridge to include repairs to stone masonry units, pedestal repairs, and repairs to the caisson rail protection system.  B&L provided preliminary and final design services.

 No. Four Road (CR 26) over Black River Minimize

296.007-CR 26 over Black river WR.jpgThe project involves the superstructure replacement for the four-span, 114.15 m (374.5 ft.) long bridge over the Black River.  Construction includes:  replacement of the multiple steel girder superstructure including cast-in-place concrete deck; installation of permanent steel sheet piping as scour protection around the piers; replacement of pier pedestals; retrofitting of existing abutments to accommodate the new superstructure; 80 meters of full depth reconstruction; 60 m of mill and overlay; and installation of temporary signals, signing, and traffic protection to facilitate staged construction.  B&L completed the construction inspection and administration for this $1.718 million project.  Construction personnel consisted of an engineer in charge (Resident Engineer).  Administrative duties included daily record keeping in accordance with the NYS MURK manual.

 County House Road (CR 24) over Sugar Creek Minimize

171.019 Yates Ct. Sugar Creek WP.jpgProject consists of replacement of an existing single-span bridge, multiple steel beam bridge and replacing it with a new 12.9 m single-span structure. Traffic was maintained on-site utilizing staged construction with temporary traffic signals. Additional construction items include: installation of erosion control, full depth pavement reconstruction of 165 m of approaches, removal of existing cast-in-place concrete substructures, replacement with cast-in-place concrete substructure founded on steel H-piles, installation of adjacent prestressed concrete box beam superstructure with 150 mm concrete installation of new steel bridge railing and box beam guide railing. B&L completed the construction inspection and administration. Construction personnel consisted of a full-time resident engineer. Administrative duties included daily record keeping in accordance with NYSDOT MURK manual, documentation of quantities, progress payments, change orders, record drawings, and daily direction to the contractor.
